“My name is Damien. I am 12 years old, and I have NF1. I have a tumor on the left side of my neck pushing against my spinal cord, as well as one at the base of my tailbone, pushing up on my spinal cord. Currently, I am taking medication that is supposed to help shrink my tumors. For the next three months, I will have to go to Fort Worth, which is 5 hours away, to get an MRI.

Since we live about five and a half hours away from Cook Children's Hospital, it is very difficult for us to have the money to do all we need - pay bills, get groceries, make it to Fort Worth, have a place to stay, etc.”

B Kind provided food assistance to Damien and his family to help ease the burden and extra costs of traveling to and from appointments.

“As a mother with NF1, I just want my child to have everything and all the help he needs. My family is forever grateful. Thank you for doing things like this for people with our condition. It makes me tear up just thinking about it.”
